The coastal pathway project to build a path linking Somerton and Brighton is well underway. Work has now reached the Somerton Surf Life Saving Club and the “Surf Club Plaza” will begin on 29 April. Part of the works include the beach ramp being torn up and rebuilt, removing the paving in front of the club and redeveloping the area. This means that the area in front of the club will be closed between April 29 and August 31. There will be no access to the gear shed or front of the club during this time.
Somerton will still be at the ready with essential lifesaving operations relocated to the Somerton Yacht Club (corner College Road and Esplanade) for the period of the closure.
The Kiosk cafe will also relocate during this period to the John Miller Reserve (College Road and Esplanade).
Keep an eye on the Somerton Surf Club Facebook page for updates.
